24-bay floodlit driving range, four PGA golf professionals, golf store and more...
The Woldingham is a lovely 18 hole course cut through the Halliloo Valley just outside of Caterham in Surrey and was the venue for the latest Texas Scramble game arranged by World of Golf professional Jon Woodroffe for 27 of his customers.
The main challenge of the golf course is the fact that the ball is never on a flat lie, so plenty of coaching on how to play shots when the ball is below or above your feet was required on the way round.
As always seems to be the case in this format, the scores at the end were very close, the winners were Neil, Ray, Steve and Chris who got round in 2 under par, including a birdie at the last when they were unsure of the leading scores and thought they needed the birdie to tie the next group. Actually they won by 2 shots from the threeball of Howard, Matt and Jeremy who grabbed second place on a count back from Phil, Chantal, Vinay and Steve Underwood, in spite of that pairing making a birdie on the stroke index 2 hole, the 7th which is a 190 yard uphill, into the wind vicious par 3 which Phil hit onto the green and Steve holed a swinging 40 foot putt for the 2, great golf.
The next 2 groups were 1 shot further back at 1 over par, so some great shots played and most of all some really great friendships made both on and off the golf course.
